Low pH Foods (Acidic Foods)

Lower pH Foods also known as acidic foods contain a pH value lower than 7, being considered the pH value of 7 a neutral, and higher than 7 considered alkaline food.

Food’s pH value (pH) directly affects the number of free hydrogen ions present in that food. The higher the pH value the less acidity is present in the food, and consequently, the less acidic the food is. The hydrogen ions give acid foods their distinctive sour flavor.

pH is measured on a scale from 0 to 14. The more acidic, the lower the pH. The distance between two points on the pH scale represents a tenfold difference in the acidity or alkalinity of a substance.

High acidic foods are considered to cause kidney issues, and it’s been speculated can cause bones and muscle deterioration.

It takes around 20 parts of alkalinity to neutralize 1 part acidity in the body
